There comes a time in life when deep questions about our purpose and destiny arise. For me, those questions became pressing during my youth, leading to encounters that would change my life forever. Though my path was winding, it was through fear and uncertainty that I discovered the truth about Jesus Christ and found peace. This is my salvation story—a journey that led me to Christ and set me free from the chains of fear and doubt.
My Salvation Story Begins
My journey with God has been a series of ups and downs, marked by moments of strong conviction and times of drifting away. I was first introduced to Christianity as a child through my family’s involvement with the Deeper Life Bible Church. This church played a significant role in shaping my early understanding of faith, planting seeds that would later grow.
The Turning Point
The first serious moment in my salvation story came during a crusade organized by the Deeper Life Bible Church. They showed a movie about heaven and hell that was terrifying and moved me to tears. After the film, an altar call was made, and I found myself walking to the front, overwhelmed by a desire to be saved. That was the first time I gave my life to Christ.
However, my understanding of following Christ was shallow at that time, and I eventually slipped back into my old ways. Years later, I watched another movie on heaven and hell, which shook me deeply again. The depiction of hell was so real and terrifying that I remember praying, “God, if this is real, I don’t want to go to Hellfire.” In that moment, I rededicated my life to Christ, marking another key moment in my salvation story.
The Conversion Experience
The real turning point in my salvation story occurred during my university years. I had reached a place of deep concern about my spiritual state, filled with anxiety about heaven and hell. It became overwhelming, so I sought help.
I approached one of my lecturers, who was also a pastor, and shared my fears. He was more than willing to help, and right there in his office, I rededicated my life to Christ for the third time. This time was different. My “lecturer-pastor” became a mentor, guiding me with the Word of God and helping me live as a committed Christian. His support was crucial in deepening my understanding of what it truly means to follow Jesus.
Life as a Born-Again Christian
Since then, my life has transformed in many ways. My faith has deepened, and I’ve become more grounded in my relationship with Christ. Staying actively involved in church has provided me with the strength and encouragement I need. My mentor has consistently guided me, helping me navigate the challenges of living out my faith. Despite struggles, my salvation story continues to be one of growth and perseverance, as I learn to rely on God’s grace.
Encouragement and Advice
To anyone considering becoming a Christian, my salvation story is a testament to the peace and purpose found in Jesus. The journey isn’t always easy, but it’s worth it. Seek out a mentor or a strong community of faith to support you. Surround yourself with people who can help you grow and stay connected to God through prayer and His Word.
One verse that has been particularly meaningful to me throughout my salvation story is Matthew 16:24: “Then Jesus said to His disciples, ‘If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.'” This verse is a daily reminder of my commitment to follow Christ, no matter the cost.
Final Thoughts
Looking back, I see God’s hand in every step of my salvation story. Even when I wavered, He was always there, guiding me back to Him. My prayer is that others will find the same grace and peace that I have found in Christ.
Altar Call Prayer
If my salvation story has touched your heart and you feel a desire to know Jesus personally, I invite you to say this simple prayer:
“Lord Jesus, I recognize that I am a sinner in need of Your grace. I believe that You died for my sins and rose again to give me new life. I ask You to come into my heart, forgive me of all my sins, and be my Lord and Savior. I commit my life to You and ask that You guide me on this journey of faith. Thank You for saving me. Amen.”
