As a new brand manager tasked with launching a new brand, I faced numerous external challenges that seemed insurmountable. To my surprise, even some internal stakeholders, whom I expected to support the launch, expressed doubt about its success. The Head of the business and other influential figures believed it was destined for failure, despite being the ones who approved its launch. Feeling alone and overwhelmed, I turned to God as my source of strength and guidance. With no one else to rely on, I sought solace in prayer, putting my trust in a higher power.
Life presents us with a myriad of challenges, unique to everyone’s circumstances and journey. Perhaps you find yourself facing the heartache of being married for several years without conceiving a child, yearning for the joy of parenthood. Or maybe you’re an entrepreneur grappling with the frustrations of low sales, struggling to find your breakthrough in the competitive market. As a young man or woman, you might be tirelessly searching for a job, facing countless rejections, and questioning your worth and abilities. Despite the difficulties, it’s important to remember that there is hope, support, and the possibility of a brighter tomorrow. In times of distress and turmoil, it is natural for humans to seek refuge and support. The question is where are you seeking refuge?
Proverbs 18:10 beautifully describes where should be the haven for the righteous – the name of the Lord because it is a strong tower! What does this verse mean and how can we find comfort by calling upon the name of the Lord?
The name of the Lord represents His power and authority. He’s the creator of everything, the boss of the universe, and a fierce warrior. Imagine a towering fortress—strong and unyielding—that’s how God is depicted. He can protect and shelter those who seek Him. In this crazy world, where else can we find true refuge but in the name of the Lord?
Here’s the deal: as Christians, when we face tough times, it’s crucial to think about where we turn for help. Doctors, Friends, Google, etc.? Well, those can be helpful, but the ultimate source we can run to is God Himself. The Bible in Philippians 2:10-11 guarantees that at the mention of His name, all knees shall bow and confess that Jesus is Lord. When we call upon the name of the Lord, our troubles bow down and surrender.
Unlike customer service agents who put us on hold when we call due to the volume of calls they have to deal with, God will not put us on hold, He is always ready to listen. He’s the ultimate multitasker, capable of addressing everyone’s concerns simultaneously. No need to worry that He’s too busy or distant. Our God is always there, attentive to our needs with abundant love and care. Going back to my story of the product launch, the day of the launch arrived, and against all odds, it turned out to be a tremendous success!
The event exceeded expectations, with customers present showing immense interest and placing substantial orders. The skeptical business unit heads in attendance were left pleasantly surprised. One of them approached me at the end of the event, admitting that they had anticipated failure but were genuinely astonished by the triumph we achieved.
But here’s the thing: while God answered my prayers the way I wanted when I called on His name, sometimes our prayers aren’t answered right away. And that’s okay too! Did you know that the timelines for answers to prayers can vary? One thing the Bible promises us is that when we pray to Him, we’ll find peace (Philippians 4:6-7). The devil wants to steal our joy and peace, especially when we’re going through tough times. He wants us to be angry at God instead of seeking solace in Him. However, by running to the strong tower of God’s name, we can find lasting peace that surpasses our circumstances.
Now, to fully experience the strength and refuge found in the name of the Lord, it’s important to accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior. By doing so, we invite His love and grace into our lives. If you haven’t taken this step, I invite you to accept Jesus today. Click here to join us in a prayer of salvation and embark on a life-changing journey with Christ.
In a world full of uncertainties and challenges, we are privileged to run to the name of the Lord, our strong tower. As we face life’s trials, we need not rely solely on earthly means for solace. Instead, we should call upon the name of God, knowing that He is responsive, mighty, and able to bring peace to our souls. Trust in God’s timing, and patiently await His answers. Let us embrace the power found in His name, seeking refuge within the strong tower, and experiencing His loving care.
I like how you mentioned the fact that God has a timeline for each of us. The enemy is always quick to make a believer derail from trusting in God when all situations seem hopeless and prayers seem unanswered.
As believers, it is important for us to come to a point where our mentality is ‘If God will not do it for me, let it remain undone’
I cannot agree more! Thank you for adding that.
